| >> "Yes Yes" or "It is broken" | [ Rant ] |
heaven's helper finds that these two phrases work for this fool...
"Working in publications you would assume a basic grasp of the English language would be listed as 'desirable' on the job application. Apparently not at my workplace, where we produce a number of magazines and newspapers.
A member of my team has survived on two basic phrases - 'yes, yes,' and 'It is broken' - for over two years. Generally, conversations take place as such... 'Ms E, can you please do XYZ?', 'Yes,yes'... (sometime later).... 'Ms Eejit, why havent you done XYZ?', 'It is broken'.
For example: When trying to burn a CD Ms E repeatedly told me it was broken, however when I tried to burn anything using her machine it worked perfectly. In desperation I watched her try to use the burner... And yes, once I told her she had to put the CD in the right way up, it worked like a charm.
For the life of me I can not understand why this person was hired - surely every interview question cannot be satisfactorily answered by 'yes yes' and 'it is broken.'"
